A dynamic alternative

Grant Thornton’s roots can be traced back over 100 years in South Africa, and today the firm is regarded as one of the top  audit and advisory firms in the country, ranked number 5 in size and servicing 39 listed clients, numerous large privately-held businesses, as well as major public sector entities

Grant Thornton’s assurance, tax, advisory and outsourcing services are sought out by clients who come to us for our technical skills and industry capabilities, and also for our different way of working. Our partners and teams invest the time to truly understand our clients’ businesses, giving real insight and fresh perspectives to keep them moving forward.

Dynamic organisations can achieve great things with the right support - advisers that deeply understand their business, their industry and their wider agenda for growth. Our capabilities, expertise and our own entrepreneurial growth culture make us perfectly suited to fill that role.

Whether you’re looking to finance growth, manage risk and regulation, optimise your operations or realise stakeholder value, we can help you.

Grant Thornton's dedicated Public Sector advisory group works with national, provincial and local government as well as state owned enterprises and development finance institutions and specialises in delivering services to our Government clients. Our partners and senior Public Sector team have all had experience in a wide range of public sector accounting roles before joining us.

Our growth agenda

We are committed to shaping a vibrant economy by facilitating and supporting commercial and social environments that enable long-term success and growth.

We live by our own growth ethos and Grant Thornton South Africa continues to grow consistently, in spite of difficult international and local economic conditions. Eight new leadership appointments announced in March 2017 are testimony to our growth strategy and also reaffirm our commitment to achieving diversity not only in our firm but in the professional services arena as well.

Transformation

Grant Thornton’s commitment to transformation is a key business and social imperative. It is essential for the future development of our people, our firm, our industry and our country.

We are actively embedding a culture where it is incumbent on each individual in our firm to embrace and adopt our objective to be a transformed firm where our teams at all levels reflect the demographics of our country. We are aiming for true diversity and inclusion, and to harness the enhanced performance that diverse teams and leaders bring to organisations.

Evidence of our commitment to the implementation and improvement of our B-BBEE scorecard can be seen in our active learnership programme which provides financial assistance to students studying to become chartered accountants, our active employment equity committee and our involvement in enterprise development initiatives as well as socio-economic development initiatives, which include both mentorship and funding.

Growing together in the community

Grant Thornton is fully invested in making a positive impact in the communities and regions in which we work. By supporting local communities we aim to build strong ties with them, which ultimately makes our business stronger and leads to better solutions for our clients. We work to unlock the potential for growth in our clients, our people and our communities. Our focus on corporate social responsibility, both through pro bono work and through our community projects, helps us to achieve real engagement.
